GENEVA Festival and Forum Jai Jagat 2020: September 26 – October 2, 2020

The Geneva Festival and Forum is the culmination of Jai Jagat 2020 and the kick-off for a 10-years campaign towards implemenenting Agenda 2030 of the UN

The Festival
September 26/27 celebrates the arrival of Indian Jai Jagat activists under the leadership of Rajagopal PV and Jill Carr-Harris after their 8000 km march from Delhi. They will be joined in Geneva by marchers and activists from Europe, Africa
and other countries around the world. The two days of joyful gatherings will involve a welcome by the City and Canton of Geneva Government, other honorable persons, and the Geneva population, involving a large joint MEAL (simultaneously taking place in many cities of the Globe). A rich selection of cultural events and illustrations of pioneering alternative examples of „how a non-violent economy in tune with nature and people could work“ will strengthen ties of solidarity and the celebration of a vision for a just and peaceful world.

The Forum
September 28 to October 1 are the days of dialogue, debate of issues and the formulation of an advocacy agenda and pro-active strategies to be presented to UN agencies, politicians and policy makers. In conferences and workshops, the voices of people affected by poverty, social exclusion, direct and structural violence will be heard and included in the discussions of civil society groups, NGOs, and many others aimed towards formulating an advocacy and action agenda. Case studies from around the world on themes such as land rights, women’s rights, environmental and climate justice and other themes will serve as inpirations for civil society actions and bottom-up inspired successful non-violent change strategies.

Gandhi Day
October 2nd is dedicated to the 151. birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, the philosophical and wise leader whose thinking has inspired the Jai Jagat 2020 global action. Eminent Gandhian thinkers and activists will discuss the past, present and future moblilisation potential of Gandhi’s powerful way of thinking and doing towards a non-violent world starting with each one of us „by being the change we want to see in the world“. A cultural programme will enrich the day.
